Nice freeride session at the Grevelingendam
After yesterdays storm, today WNW 5 bft, perfect conditions for Grevelingendam, no sun and therefore slightly colder.
First surfers took to the water with 7.8 slalom sails, which had their hands full.
So 7.3 would be big, too. 6.6 could work, but I had not taken the iSonic 101. The 6.0 with minimum trim should be possible.

FSW 102 with Banzai 6.0 and MFC 32cm
During rigging, a clip of my AL360 160-220 boom broke so I had to take the 180-230. It is a lot heavier and wider, but fits the 6.0.
With minimal trim in the sail, I was able to plane. Nice freeriding, relaxed sailing back and forth. Sometimes some waves to jump. Slowly the wind increased, until the sail needed some more trim and the fin got a bit big.

FSW 102 with Banzai 6.0 and MFC 29cm
With the 29cm fin clearly better in the stronger wind. Waves also higher, few attempts at waveriding. Although that didn't really work out with the longer fin. Wind increased further, making the 6.0 too big: outhaul on lower eye made a big difference. Trim range of the Banzai is really huge. There was a shower coming, with which the wind decreased. Time to stop was still tired from the days before.

It was fun, a little cruising. Nice to have sailed on the Grevelingendam again.

Grevelingendam

Present: Jurjen

12:00 1.25 hour Wind: W/NW 15/20 kts
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - MFC Freewave 32cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 6.0 - Goya Hunderd Pro 430 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Had to use the 180-230 slalom boom, clips of the 160 broke when rigging. The 180 is clearly heavier.
Could plane with minimal wind. Nice freeriding and some jumps. Not much wave to ride, especially with the 34cm the board doesn't really want to turn tightly. With more wind the 32cm got a bit big, stood with my foot out of the strap near the rail to compensate the pressure of the fin.
13:15 0.75 hour Wind: W/NW 15/20 kts
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - MFC Freewave 29cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 6.0 - Goya Hunderd Pro 430 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Had to use the 180-230 slalom boom, clips of the 160 broke when rigging. The 180 is clearly heavier.
With the 29cm it was better, more trim in the sail to work better with the harder wind. A lot more jumping and waveriding.
Waveriding didn't really work, couldn't find the right waves and board didn't turn tight enough. Sometimes the 6.0 was actually too big.
