Ending the year surfing
Forecast: Slightly less wind than the day before. SW. So should be nice 4.7 weather.
Only a few surfers on the water. Many stood still. Sails between 5.0 and 6.0.
Doubted between 5.3 and 6.0. Opted for 6.0 to be able to plane for sure.
Didn't want to sail very long today, so didn't want to have to have to rig another sail.

FSW 102 with Banzai 6.0 and Makani 26cm
Directly planing full power from the beach. That usually means that it can become challenging further out.
Quickly back to the beach for more trim in the sail. Lots of fun waves to jump, and with so much power in the sail and the FSW 102 it is easy to fly. Often high jumps, sometimes not the best control in the air so a few times I let go of the kit. Sail was soon trimmed over max. Could still sail, but waveriding or jumping became difficult. Only close to the beach I dared to take another jump, and even they quickly went very high.

The 6.0 was the wrong choice. Had I started with 5.3 it would have been too big at the end. But still reasonably doable.
Nice to finish the year like this.

Blokkendam

12:45 1.5 hour Wind: SW
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - Makani Kaku 26cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 6.0 - Goya Hunderd Pro 430 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Good at first, but soon too big.
Finished trimmed way past maximum, way more then I like to do. And even then it was actually no longer doable.
Close to the beach where it is usually just a little less wind, it was sometimes ok.
Many jumping, especially a lot of high jumps. A few attempts for back-side wave riding, but sail was too big.
Planing gybes went like a train, more than enough power in the sail.
