Lovely afternoon freeriding
NW wind forecast, 15 to 25 knots with a chance of rain. Wind turned out to be more WNW and clear skies. Perfect for the Grevelingendam.
There were still few surfers on the water. Most had 6.5 to 7.3, but I felt my 6.0 should be enough.

Banzai 6.0 with JP FSW 102 and MFC 29cm (foot straps inwards)
Sail rigged with minimum trim, maybe even just below it.
Even before I was out of the bay I could plane, tweak the harnesslines, a bit more outhaul and downhaul and sail was good.
Nice freemove, a bit of chop hopping, long runs to the other side. Had the idea that I always had to try to get upwind to get back into the bay. Boom slightly lower, mast base 2cm forward. It helped a bit, but upwind remained necessary, I didn't seem to sail well cross wind.
I wanted to try using the outboard strap position (2 behind instead of 1) for a while, to see if it would make much difference.

Banzai 6.0 with JP FSW 102 and MFC 32cm (foot straps outwards)
Really lovely freeride, set felt more natural. Foot straps exactly where you want to stand to keep the board flat. Clearly better than with foot straps inboard, then I usually stand outside the footstraps until I want to jump or ride a wave. Jumping also went pretty well. Was really enjoyable. Upwind was not super, but certainly better than with the 29cm fin. Board was also clearly faster.

It was wonderfully sunny. With 10 degrees not very cold, but wind still felt chilly. It was not very crowded on the Grevelingendam.
Wind was very stable. Never adjusted the sail trim of the 6.0 a lot. Wind only turned a little bit.

Grevelingendam

Present: Martijn (super_ik)

11:45 1 hour Wind: W/NW
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - MFC Freewave 29cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 6.0 - Goya Hunderd Pro 430 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Minimum trim in the sail: upper outhaul eye. Set worked pretty well, cross to down wind very well. Getting upwind took some effort.
Water fairly flat, only in the deeper water, sometimes some steep wind waves to jump. On the flat water it was really nice jibing, usually planing jibes.
13:15 1.75 hour Wind: W/NW
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - MFC Freewave 32cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 6.0 - Goya Hunderd Pro 430 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
I've wanted to test the FSW 102 with foot straps in the outerboard position for a while now. Also took the 32cm to improve upwind ability.
Sail still minimum trim.
Set felt better balanced. Stood with my feet better in the foot straps, instead of completely next to them. Set was clearly faster. Jumping was still going pretty well. Planing jibes just as easy, maybe even easier.
Fin certainly not too big, with foot straps in the outboard position, I think a size bigger fin is needed anyway.
