Unexpected lovely sunny day
Forecast was grey but dry and 28 to 35 knots.
On the way to the coast the sky slowly turned blue, in the end it was sunny almost all afternoon.
Wind would increase a bit and then decrease. Wind seemed to be a bit disappointing, so just to be sure, took a size bigger.

Banzai 4.7 with Tri-Wave 89 and 19/12cm fins
From the beach I could plane directly. Sail soon maximum trimmed. Nice waves, quite a bit of back-side waveriding. Occasionally front-side, but that didn't really work.
Wind WSW, so could jump over both sides, even with left foot in front some high jumps, only landing often a little too flat.
Even at max trim, it was hard, still control, less easy for waveriding, so time for size sail.

Banzai 4.2 with Tri-Wave 89 and 19/12cm fins
Clearly better: nicer waveriding. Played together with Henk in the surf. Broad reach from 't-Gorse to the lighthouse, and over the entire distance waveriding and jumping. Unfortunately, the wind closer to the dunes was less, that in combination with broad reach sailing often meant that I had just too little pressure in the surf to ride a good wave. Also jumped high in the surf a few times. Make speed on broad reach and look for a wave, either to jump or to ride. Once so high that I even fell down half a meter while I thought I was already landing very flat. Oops.
Very tiring. Wind also seemed to decrease a bit, time to stop.

Banzai 4.7 with Tri-Wave 89 and 19/12cm fins
During derigging of the 4.2, the wind appeared to have decreased considerably: everyone started derigging.
I had not seen Jurjen for a while. So I went back on the water with the 4.7 to look for him.
Wind minimal, could with some effort just plane.
Jurjen was quickly found: He walked back from the lighthouse, too little wind for him to plane.

Great day, especially when the sun was shining it was not cold at all.
Wonderfully sailing. Especially together with Henk in the surf was really nice.

12:00 0.75 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Fanatic Tri-Wave 89 - MFC TF RTM 19cm/MFC TF 2x12cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Set worked well. Board got upwind really well. Jumping went well. Back-side wave riding went well. Wind increased rapidly. Still had control, but was heavier than necessary.
Fins could have been smaller, walked very easily height, did not suffer much from it.
13:15 2 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Fanatic Tri-Wave 89 - MFC TF RTM 19cm/MFC TF 2x12cm
Sail: Goya Banzai X Pro 4.2 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 140-200
Set worked well. For a while, the sail was the perfect size. In the hardest gusts when water was very rough, board was a bit more difficult to control, was certainly still good to sail. But you do notice that board is a bit too big. Jumping went well, quite high. Landings not always good. Range very good. A lot of back-side wave riding in the surf between 't Gorsje and the lighthouse. Wind decreased and could still plane fairly easily, only close to the beach the wind not strong enough.
15:30 0.25 hour Wind: W/SW

Wind minimal for the 4.7, could still plane, upwind took some effort.
