Warm water and lots of weed
2nd day sailing on St Martin. Wind is almost always the same here, ENE between 16 and 24 knots. Today the wind seems a little stronger.
Grabbed the same set to start with.
Ezzy Cheetah 6.0 on Fanatic Blast 130 with Fins 46cm
Direct planing from the beach, wind just as good as yesterday when I stopped. I just didn't pay attention and was almost immediately on the reef, so immediately downwind to stay in the bay.
Wind was clearly stronger, unfortunately the Freewave 95 was already in use, so there was not really a suitable smaller board for me, so I kept using the Blast 130. Not that the board really felt too big. There were a little more waves in the bay, with the Freewave I could have done some jumping and a bit of waveriding. Waveriding didn't really work with the Blast 130: way too wide.
Unfortunately, there was a lot more weed, really 2 or 3x as much. So I had to stop a lot more to get weed off the fin. Really about 3 to 4 times per run. Not really good sailing, so decided to stop.
Again was delicious, set worked well, but I would have preferred a 100l freewave board with wierfin, then it would have been perfect.
Apparently, February is the best month for windsurfing.

Same set as yesterday. So still the Fins 46cm fin and too short harness lines. Trim was immediately good. Board ran loose and a lot of control. Unfortunately, much more weed, had to stop much more often to remove weed. |
