Afternoon Freerace at Kabbelaarsbank
Great weather predicted including wind force 4 to 5, had a day off: surfing.

Relatively quiet at Kabbelaarsbank. Wind more south than predicted, and almost South, so gusty.

iSonic 117 with Daytona 7.3 and SLP-42 cm
First time I rigged the Daytona 2007 7.3. I did have a 2006 before, so know what I should expect. Found the loose leech bit strange on the platinum mast. Trimmed the battens a bit.
Took a bit of time to get used to Slalom gear. especially the longer harness lines, started short, and kept making them longer.
Wind was varying a lot, not gusts, but really on/off. Sometime I needed to pump to get planing, other moments fully overpowered. Jibing quickly went well, only in the wind holes I dropped out of plane. Wind direction changed a bit more to West, and quickly started to increase: back to shore was a bit of a survival: Smaller kit?

iSonic 117 with Daytona 7.3 and SLP-40 cm
Wind had dropped a lot, took a fin: 40 cm, bit more downhaul in the sail. Sail felt a lot lighter, better this way. Did some legs with some of the faster guys on the water, the freeracers I could keep up with, or even overtake. The real slalom stuff is just too fast for me right now to keep up with. Sailed until I was tiered.

I think the Daytona could do with a couple of spacers to tune it even better.

Very nice afternoon, sun, good temperature, but the wind was very gusty. 7.3 was a good choice. On some of the hardest gusts it was big, but in the lulls I could pump to get planing.
Fine to get back once on a free race/slalom set. slightly more pain in my teeth than with the freestylewave. Nice to feel the speed again.
Should clearly get more confidence on the fast stuff, need to sail looser over the chop.

13:00 1.25 hour Wind: S/SW 16/26 kts
Board: Starboard iSonic 117 - Sonntag SL-P 10° 42cm
Sail: North Daytona 7.3 - North Platinum(11) 460 - HPL Carbon Race 200-285
First time with the Daytona 2007 7.3 and also first time using this SL-P 42 cm 10° rake
I got the trim in the sail very good quickly, needed little tweaking. Bit more downhaul to let the sail feel really light. Fin had a spin-out sometimes, when I would push incorrectly. Setup works very well together, in the harder gusts, too much lift from the fin.
14:45 0.5 hour Wind: S/SW 12/22 kts
Board: Starboard iSonic 117 - Sonntag SL-P 40cm
Sail: North Daytona 7.3 - North Platinum(11) 460 - HPL Carbon Race 200-285
First time with the SL-P 40 cm. 40 cm seemed to work better than the 42 cm with the 7.3, The 42 cm worked very well in minimal wind, but was a bit too big when the wind was stronger. The 40 cm is very good in high winds for this set.
