Nice afternoon at the Grevelingendam
Took a trip via Battenoord, to see the Flamingoos with his own eyes: remains something special: Flamingoos in the Netherlands.
It was very quiet at the Grevelingendam, specially for a Sunday with sun and good wind.
Wind was bit too west, so at the roundabout the wind was less than on the water, awkwardly choosing which sail to rig.

Started with JP 102 and Ice 5.3 with MFC 29cm, more volume for safety.
Wind was more than I expected on the shore, increased the downhaul several times. Past the max trim of the sail.
Could certainly still sail well, never really overpowered, but too much wind to really play with the waves.
Because sail had more than enough power, went to shore to switch to the JP 84.

JP 84 with Ice 5.3 and Free Wave 22, 5cm and 10cm Makani thrusters
What a difference, which 102 sails delicious, but a smaller board is much more lively, much more playful. Jumps easier, turns better in the waves.
Sail was still really large, so decided to go grab the 4.7.

JP 84 with Ice 4.7 and Free Wave 22, 5cm and 10cm Makani thrusters
No wind in the bay, outside the bay there was plenty of wind, but it also dropped too often to below planing speed. If the wind was there, it was perfect. Much more waveriding than with the 5.3.
Eventually floated back to shore. Was already pretty tired, so decided to call it a day.

Sailed a lot together with Jurjen.
It was lovely weather, nice sunshine. Wind was good, maybe just too West so the wind near the shore did not come through.

Grevelingendam

Present: Jurjen

13:00 1 hour Wind: W
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - Makani Kaku 26cm
Sail: North Ice 5.3 - North Gold(b) 400cm - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
With Max trim the sail was still on the large side. Still had control, but because the sail so big was not really possible to play with the waves.
14:00 0.5 hour Wind: W
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 84 Pro - MFC Freewave 22,5cm/Makani Walu 2x10cm
Sail: North Ice 5.3 - North Gold(b) 400cm - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Sail still too big, even with the FSW 84, the sail felt too big to sail really top. Had control, but not completely relaxed.
14:30 1 hour Wind: W
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 84 Pro - MFC Freewave 22,5cm/Makani Walu 2x10cm
Sail: North Ice 4.7 - North Platinum 400cm - Severne Enigma 150-200
Perfect, control, upwind easily. Little jumping, little waveriding. Even occasionally a planning jibe. Unfortunately, the wind was became gosty, occasionally really stood still.
