Light wind at sea
Wind again to south predicted to be a perfect day. But no rain, Jurjen was joining me, so we chose to go to the Blokkendam: more familiar faces.
In the morning another appointment so not early at the dam. Was busy. Wind didn't seem to be strong, flat water. Lots of different sails, 4.5 to 6.8. I thought 5.3 seemed sufficient, but 6.0 and 6.6 should also be possible. Jurjen was on the water with 6.8 Freerace. Ended up rigging the 5.3

Near the beach, behind the dam, as to be expected, no wind. In the beginning the wind was even SSO and turned slowly to SSW. Water was pretty flat, only occasionally some low steep waves. That was a lot of fun jumping from time to time. Almost no waves for wave riding, often just too low or not steep enough. Very impressed with the 5.3 in minimum trim. With so little wind still able to plane. Planing jibes often went very well, flat water makes it a lot easier. Once went far towards the sandbar to watch seals. Sailed up to about 100m from the bank. Was pretty full, didn't want to disturb the seals. On the way back, somewhere halfway, fall. I was standing in waist deep water, not more then 1.5 meters deep at low tight: bizarre.
Wind slowly dropped, making it harder to get planing.. After a short break the wind was too far gone to get planing at all, so time to stop.

Nice day, not really a wave day, more freeride, but dry and not cold, and wind not too gusty.

Set worked very well. Minimal trim, bizarre with how little wind I can plane with this set. Very flat water, so easy to do planing jibes. Only a few good waves, but I was pretty good chop hopping or a bit of back-side wave riding. Set was going upwind very well.
