Nice afternoon freerace
WNW wind, 20 to 25 knots predicted. Perfect for the Grevelingendam. Not the best direction for the Brouwersdam, and with the oil on the beach better not.
In the morning the forecast was already less and the wind seemed to stay mainly at sea. I wanted to rig 6.0, but 6.6 seemed a better size, because even 7.3 was an option.

E-Type 6.6 with iSonic 101 and SL-X 36cm
Trim was not good, sail felt heavy, set did not want to run free. Sail seemed to have too much power. but board didn't run loose. Fin felt on the big side. Was also the first time in over a year that I sailed this set. So first change the fin.

E-Type 6.6 with iSonic 101 and Busca 34cm
The 34 fin helped, board ran easier and more control. But sail was not yet good. In the end, found the right trim: Mastfoot had to go further back, harnesslines considerably backwards and more downhaul. No long runs to the shallows on the other side.Jibing in the deep water. I heard that several people had crashed into weed fields in the shallow water on the other side. A lot of planned jibing, but then I needed a gust, in the softer wind not enough power. Control was very good. Never out of control, even in the talest waves.
Wind decreased a bit, getting upwind got more difficult, time to take the 36cm fin again.

Sail on minimum trim. In the beginning, the 36cm helped to get planing. Unfortunately, the wind quickly decreased and it became mainly bobbing. Everyone stood still. Time to stop.

Unfortunately, the wind that had been predicted did not come. But it was good to sail the slalom board again, and try to sail as fast as possible. Definitely a good training for Dam-X next week.

11:45 0.25 hour Wind: W
Board: Starboard iSonic 101 - Sonntag SL-X 36cm
Sail: North E-Type 6.6 - North Platinum(11) 460 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Had to look for the right trim. Speed was not good, sail felt heavy. Was over a year ago that I had sailed this set. Sail needed the max trim, and the 36cm is on the large side.
12:00 1.75 hour Wind: W
Board: Starboard iSonic 101 - Busca Slalom 34cm
Sail: North E-Type 6.6 - North Platinum(11) 460 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Except in the wind holes, the set worked well. Found a good trim, board ran loose and fast. Planing jibes often went well. Get upwind was more difficult in the wind holes.
13:45 0.5 hour Wind: W
Board: Starboard iSonic 101 - Sonntag SL-X 36cm
Sail: North E-Type 6.6 - North Platinum(11) 460 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Sail on minimal trim, mast foot tap forward. Could get planing fairly easily and keep planing when the wind dropped. Until the wind dropped further and it was slugging back to the shore. When planing, the set was still fairly loose and got still upwind.
