Light weather sunny evening session
North wind, sunny and again increasing wind after 16:00. Very busy on the dam. Unfortunately, the wind was a bit disappointing.
Banzai 5.3 on the FSW 102 with Makani 26cm
Water was fairly flat, so much more freeride, nice long runs, sailing with friends. Wind was disappointing, sail soon less trim. In the gusts I could get upwind, but if the wind was less, I always lost ground. So always very consciously trying to get upwind all the time. Few really nice waves. Only in front of the measuring pole were sometimes nice little waves for some jumping.
Banzai 5.3 on the FSW 102 with MFC 29cm
Grabbed a bigger fin. Sail on minimum trim, but even that didn't really help. Outside of the gusts, it remained difficult. But if I had a gusts, I could now get upwind very well and therefore make up for a lot. Jumping did not get better, with the 29cm fin it is more difficult to land. Footstraps were actually just a little too small so I wasn't really on top of my board and jumping wasn't great either. Few very bad landings, but luckily myself and my stuff not damaged.
The weather was lovely, unfortunately the predicted wind did not really come.

Wind would increase, started on medium trim, ended with minimum trim. Could always plane, even if it was often on my toes. In the lulls, get upwind was a lot of work with the 26cm. Foot straps of the FSW 102 in outboard position. Jumping went well. Board sailed wonderfully free in the stronger wind. |

Sail set to minimum trim. Footstraps in outboard position. Could almost always plane, sometimes needed a wave to get planing. Board sailed wonderfully free in the stronger wind. The 29cm didn't really help getting upwind better in minimal winds. With stronger winds it was even easier to get upwind. Jumping wasn't always great. I wasn't standing comfortably above the board and then the landings weren't really good. |
