Sunny afternoon
East wind, never my favorite, had worked a bit too hard last week, so went to clear my head, some cold fresh air might help.
The fact that forecast for the comming week shows cold weather is coming, another reason to get some t.o.w.

Good wind at the Grevelingendam. A lot of different size slalom sails on the shore: btween 9.2 and 7.0. For sure, taking the Warp 9.0 would mean always planing.
But I had the impression that I could also get planing easily with the Warp 8.0, especially with minimum wind trim: boom top outhaul eye and very loose outhaul.
Not entirely convinced that I would have full pressure in my sail, so did not take the Boss 44cm but the Sonntag 44cm.

iSonic 117 with Warp 8.0 and Sonntag SL-P 44 cm
Stepped up the board and was planing, advantage of the East wind, also wind in the small bay. Water was flat, could let the board run freely, nicely on the rail. Jibing went realy smooth, if wind had not dropped too muchL good to know I can still do them on slalom gear.
Found the board no running freely. When the wind dropped a little, I had to pump to get planing: good practise!

iSonic 117 with Warp 8.0 and Sonntag SL-P 46 cm
With the SL-P 46 it was clearly better. Board ran much more free, was quicker to get planing.
Unfortunately the wind slowly died out. After some moments floating around, went back to shore: Pumping to keep planing untill back a the shore.

Flamingos?
On the other side of the Grevelingendam there is a small collony of Flamingos reguarlalry visitin. No, that is not a joke.
Wind direction was now good to go see them, if they are there. Closer to shore I had the idea I could see great white dots on the water.
I tried to come as close as possible, unfortunately too close. Fin in the sand. Fortunately not too much damage to the Sonntag. Little filler and sanding and the fin will as good as new.

Nice sailing today, certainly not cold. Took it nice and relaxed today. Unfortunately wind dropped too early, I had wanted to continue a bit longer.

Grevelingendam

14:00 0.75 hour Wind: E 10/16 kts
Board: Starboard iSonic 117 - Sonntag SL-P 44cm
Sail: North Warp F2010 8.0 - North Platinum(13) 490cm - HPL Carbon Race 200-285
Flat water, wind not very strong, outhaul in the upper eye. Sail gave enough power to get plaining easily, had to pump sometimes. SL-P 44 cm was good except when the wind dropped a bit, then it was harder to get upwind.
14:45 1 hour Wind: E 8/14 kts
Board: Starboard iSonic 117 - Sonntag SL-P 46cm
Sail: North Warp F2010 8.0 - North Platinum(13) 490cm - HPL Carbon Race 200-285
With the 46 cm and the Warp 8.0 with minimum outhaul the set was working really well. Nice and loose, speed also seemed pretty good. Unfortunately wind started to die down, eventually I had to keep pumping to get back to shore plaining.
