Once again full on
Okay, not quite, was with the Daytona, not with a Warp.
But full power over the chop, together with Jurjen, see who is fastest: Me!
Good wind predicted, but too South, even too much South East for the best winds. Always unclear if the wind comes through.
Wind was less then predicted, but enough for a good session.
Bit of doubt which sail to take: 5.9, 6.6 or 7.3, me wind was much less than predicted, so took the Daytona 7.3.
ISonic 117 with Daytona 7.3 and Z-Fin 42cm
First time with a Z-Fin: The 42cm SL, very curious how it performs. With SO wind their is not much on the corner of the Punt, you need to get upwind and out to more open water for better wind.
Once way from the small dam, more want and planing.
Because of the wind direction it was not convenient to go to the shore quickly, so we made a long legs from Hompelvoet to Brouwersdam and back.
Towards Hompelvoet was heavy, steep, nasty chop. With this wind direction, the wind waves bend around Kabbelaarsbank and become stands almost perpendicular to the sailing direction.
Back to the dam was a lot easier, but with the direction this broad over the chop, you have to be careful, nose might dive in the trough.
The Z-Fin lets board run free, it also seems to give a lot of controle, although in this tricky chop it seemed relative. Too bad I couldn't get to shore to compare another fin.
Was a long good session. A lot of kilometers made, good training.
Certainly not cold yet.

First time with a Z-Fins, the 42 cm SL. Set worked well, control was good, even in the awkward chop (waves turned around Kabbelaarsbank, and thus not perpendicular to the direction of the wind.) Board did not ran very loose, boom bit heigher, set directly much looser and quicker. Was faster on all courses than Jurjen. Had some spinouts, at low speed when going upwind, more then with a Sonntag. |
