Start of the 2021 season
I missed the first warmer days of the year, but this afternoon I managed to sail for a few hours.
Jeroen was already on the water and came to the shore switch his 5.3 to his 6.6. So I also rigged 6.6.

Near the shore and in front of the centre no wind, only above the musselbank enough enough wind to get into planing. The further to the other side, the more the wind seemed to increase. That turned out not to be a one-off. All the time the wind on the other side was a lot stronger than near the surf center. Footstraps were too small, so to the shore to make them bigger. Also took a larger fin to get upwind easier.

Gave the sail slightly less trim. Bobbing until far from the shore again before I finally had enough wind to plane. Especially near the other side, I could plane all the time. So many short runs and jibes. Quite a few planing jibes.
I have seen a lot of Seals today, almost every run I could see a head above water somewhere, I have never seen so many in the Grevelingen.
Sailed until the sun was almost gone and the temperature dropped rapidly.

It wasn't very long, wind certainly wasn't ideal, but it was nice to have been back on the water. Lots of sun, 10 degrees when I started.

Present: Jeroen

15:00 0.5 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Starboard iSonic 101 - Busca Slalom 34cm
Sail: North E-Type 6.6 - North Platinum(13) 460 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Footstraps were too small. Fin too small for this wind. Only in the Strongest gusts I could get upwind. Feet were not comfortable in the back straps, so too far outboard and therefor the fin was even more too small. If I had to go to the beach for the straps, I could also take a bigger fin.
15:30 0.5 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Starboard iSonic 101 - Sonntag SL-X 36cm
Sail: North E-Type 6.6 - North Platinum(13) 460 - AL360 E3 Carbon 180-230
Near the harber on the other side of the lake, in the good wind, the set work very well. Set ran free. Planing jibes often went well.
