Light wind session after a storm
Friday heavy storm and a lot of rain. Today the wind will decrease and in the afternoon it will be dry, until about 2 to 3 o'clock there was good wind predicted. First I checked the Grevelingendam, but there the wind was too north and not strong enough. So I drove on to the sea. More and more wind along the way. I was there after 12, the wind had just died completely. Everyone was going to stop. So rigged two sized than the morning crew.

In the beginning the wind is completely gone, timing it with the shore break and then bobbing. First thought: I'm too late, the wind is gone. Got a gust and got planing. After that, a few runs bobbing: is this going to become anything? Slowly the wind picked up. Soon I was easily planing. After about an hour there was a rain shower, wind changed, wind gone. Only with a lot of effort I was able to waterstart. Would this be the end of the session? I was quite far upwind, so had to do a couple runs downwind to get to the beach. Just before I reached the beach I was able to plane again. Wind came back after all, and was able to plane.
Wind turned a lot, sometimes almost North, in the end almost West: sailing from Perries to the point of the water intake.

Sailed on until another heavy shower came and it had to be about 3 o'clock. The wind started to drop, so I stopped. There was the famous shore-break again, so I hadn't gone to the shore at all.

Actually it was a wonderful freeride session. Due to the shifting wind and the wind holes around the showers, it was not the easiest day.

Set on minimum trim. Usually nicely powered, unfortunately sometimes the wind was completely gone. If I had good pressure I could get upwind, was the wind minimal I could not get upwind. Hardly any steep waves, mostly swell, only a few small jumps. Good controle, good speed, never spinouts. Often not enough wind for planing jibes, but I managed a couple of times.
