Tropical day at sea
All weekend wind predicted, Saturday most, today in the afternoon also good and 26 degrees. So did a nice weekend Zeeland.
On arrival it was not very busy with surfers and bathers, but that changed quickly.

JP Ultimate Wave 94 with Banzai 5.3 and MFC 21/11 fins
First time with the Ultimate Wave as thruster was not disappointing, clearly better than as a quad. Got planing quickly, back to the beach I had to get upwind a lot to get back to the dam. Sail a little looser so I had more pressure, but that didn't really help either. Wind also decreased. Maybe time to try the 22cm, even though that seems way too big for the UW 94.

With the 22cm clearly better, pressure better distributed over my legs, but still had to constantly try to go upwind, sometimes even bobbing: wind decreased. So still bigger sail or the FSW 102.

JP FSW 102 with Banzai 5.3 and Makani 26cm
Step on the board, 2 pumps and planing. The FSW 102 is so different from the UW 94, feels much larger than the difference in volume suggests. Nice long runs along the beach towards the lighthouse. Sometimes picked a wave to jump or ride. The FSW 102 can make a turn, but needs more conviction. I Enjoyed it.
Wind slowly increased, so the board even started to feel big.

Get out and planing quickly. Board ran better cross wind with more wind. Feeling a bit boring, board doesn't feel as loose as the FSW and on the flat water that's pretty boring. no waves to ride. Quite a few little waves to jump.

Never before, 2/2 short arm wetsuits was too warm, so stupid to forget my shorty. So warm on a day that you can sail with 5.3.
Due to the warmth a lot of beachgoers and swimmers in the sea, so with sailing out or coming back in, you had to be careful.
Not quite convinced by the Ultimate Wave 94, first feeling this is still a board that has to be sailed too much over the front foot for my sailing style. Will test again soon if there are any waves.

13:00 0.5 hour Wind: SW 18/24 kts
Board: JP Ultimate Wave 94 - MFC TF 21cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 5.3 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
First time with the Ultimate Wave in thruster setup. Set worked reasonably well, sail seemed big enough, but had to sail a lot over my front foot to be able to get upwind.
Wind decreased a bit, then it became more difficult to get back to the launch area. Board turns very easily. Seems to give quite a lot of control in thruster setup.
13:30 0.25 hour Wind: SW 18/24 kts
Board: JP Ultimate Wave 94 - MFC 2K 22cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 5.3 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
The 2K 22cm clearly has more surface area than the 21cm.
the 2K base is longer then the slotbox. Seemed to be able to get upwind better. Unfortunately, the wind quickly decreased, causing it to bob.
14:00 2.5 hour Wind: SW 16/22 kts
Board: JP Freestyle Wave 102 Pro - Makani Kaku 26cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 5.3 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
That FSW 102 planes so much easier than the Ultimate Wave 94. Gets upwind much easier. Sails really like a freeride board, very relaxed, loose and fast. Set worked very well, only in the wind holes I sometimes could not get planing.
16:30 0.75 hour Wind: SW 20/25 kts
Board: JP Ultimate Wave 94 - MFC 2K 22cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 5.3 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
With more wind the UW 94 works clearly better than with less wind, in the stronger wind the board sails better cross wind.
Unfortunately few good waves, so not much waveriding. Did a few jumps.
Footstraps were a bit too big.
