Evert: first storm of the year: spicy
Forecast was 9 bft, so actually too much wind and a lot of rain. In the morning it turned out that the wind in the afternoon would be less extreme and Zeeland would hardly get rain.
I could take some time of from work. On arrival there were only 2 surfers on the water: 3.4 and 4.0, but I didn't have to check sail sizes. The sea state was telling enough: Storrm, foam flying through the air: 3.7

It was still high tide, so big shore break. Timed it correct, got through without falling. I was far too tense at the beginning. Bit of extreme conditions to start again after a few months of hardly sailing. Sailing so tense is much more tiring. After a break, put the max trim on the sail. After that I was less tense and sailed better, gybing went better, sometimes planning. There were a lot of high waves, but wind was often too extreme to jump really well or for waveriding, so I just made it more of a freeride session. Wind slowly got less extreme, a little less trim in the sail, which helped, but sometimes I stood still. With the extra Corona kilo's, the AHD sank even faster, so it was wise to stop. I was pretty tired, anyway.

It was a great afternoon. Lots of sun, apart from a few drops of rain completely dry. Nice waves, wind bit extreme, but usually doable. I was a bit rusty due to not training on the water or at the gym. Cycling alone is clearly not enough for good surfing condition.

Set quickly trimmed well. At the start bit tricky conditions, very strong gusts, towards the end wind dropped a bit. Set gave very good control, certainly handy at the beginning when what was still very rough. Later, water became calmer and very easy to sail.
