Chilly sunny afternoon
Forecast for today was cold, at first only 5 degrees. In the end it would be 8 degrees by the end of the afternoon, but on the day itself it would rain in the early morning and then sun and warmer, with a chance of 9 to 10 degrees, so went to Zeeland anyway. On departure, the wind direction between W and WNW: perfect for the Grevelingendam. On arrival it was unfortunately W to WZW. So in the bay and in the shallow less wind. Winds would slowly ease throughout the afternoon.
Jurjen was sailing 5.3, so rigged the 4.7. Good opportunity to try my own Goya One 3 Pro 95.
Footstraps set to the correct size. Set the front straps a bit wider, because otherwise they were just too narrow with 5mm shoes.

Goya One 3 Pro with Banzai 4.7 and MFC 21 (old)/11cm
Bobbing out of the bay, a good feeling of the volume, enough not to sink without pressure in the sail. Once wind immediately planing, immediately felt good. Sails like a balance between a freewave and a modern waveboard, sailing more over the front foot, but not as extreme as many modern full wave boards. So better suited for freeride. Jumps easy. Only in the air I notice that I have to get used to it, board itself provides less lift, I think because the nose is shorter. Gybes very nice, first gybe was full planing. No super good waves, but could find some nice ones for a single hit. You immediately notice the advantage of 95 liters. If things don't go perfectly, you're going to keep going or you're not going to sink completely. Board turns quite well, but clearly not like my FSW 84. Wind seemed to increase, making it really too easy to get upwind. Time for a different center fin and a sip.

Goya One 3 Pro with Banzai 4.7 and MFC 21 (new)/11cm
With the new 21cm it felt better, pressure better distributed over both feet, and still be able to get upwind (by sailing over the front foot). Bit of freeriding, If I found a wave, then jumping or waveriding. Waves did get less, so more boring sailing. Got tired, too, so time to stop.

Next time I should try the MFC 19cm, think that should work easily if there is better wind near the shore.

It was cold, but with the sun it was ok. Unfortunately not the perfect wind direction, but nice sailing. Very happy with the One 95.
Remains special to see the Flamingo's on the Grevelingen.

Grevelingendam

Present: Jurjen

12:15 1 hour Wind: W
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - MFC Freewave (20) 21cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
First time with my own Goya One 3 Pro 95. Felt right, right away. More wave than my other freewave boards, sailing more over the front foot to get upwind. And crosswind still possible with pressure on both legs, or even most on the back foot. Fins felt like they could be smaller. Sail on max trim and that was good, could almost always plane, sometimes bit downwind and some pumps. First gibe was planing. Board jumps easily, only in the air I have to get used to less lift from the nose.
13:30 1.75 hour Wind: W
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - MFC Freewave (06) 21cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
The original 21cm MFC of the Goya 95 has less surface area than the old Freewave. I put the fin of the old freeave further in the back of the base. So the old 21 is better in a straight line. The new one feels smaller, board turns a little easier. Wind varied slightly more, sometimes minimally, sometimes full pull. Waves clearly eased down, bit more boring. Happy with the board.
