Wonderful session on Mother's Day
Finally good wind again, NNE, but that can be very nice at Brouwersdam South.
Wind would become very strong later in the afternoon, up to 40 knots. I had to leave around 3 to visit my mother. So I started on time. Later even 4.2 could be used, but wanted to be able to plan right away, so rig bigger: 5.3
Few windsurfers on the water yet, mainly wingers.

Because it is NNE, the first part from the beach is less windy, but after a few hundred meters: planing and immediately well powered. Immediately caught some waves in a row: nice back-side hits. Just be careful at the measuring pole not to sail into it. Past the measuring pole also a few nice waves to jump. For me also the right direction to jump: a few donkey kicks: lot of fun! Since the waves were quite nice, I went to the shore to get my WhiteWater, which makes the board even more of a waveboard.

Feel was very different, the fin is a lot smaller than the 22.5cm and also further forward in the box. First time sailing this fin with the 5.3. Couldn't find the right trim, with the 22.5cm I had a lot of pressure on my back foot, it was perhaps a bit too big. With the WW had to sail over the front foot and even with mast foot far in the front I had to do my best to sail cross wind. Wind also seemed to decrease a bit, that probably didn't help either.

While changing the fins you could already feel the wind change: increased considerably. Set sailed a lot nicer right away. Boom down a little more and set was perfect. Due to more wind and in the meantime low tide, the waves were clearly becoming less good. Wind increased considerably and ended up with sail at max trim. More and more familiar faces also came on the water: always more fun.
Sailed longer than expected. I didn't expect to be in the condition to sail for 3 hours, but I really did well. The 5.3 was the right size all afternoon, at the end I could have easily sailed with 4.7, but 5.3 was still doable. The sun was nice, the wind was a bit chilly. First time this year sailed without a winter suit: nice.
Anita and Alex were there again, always nice to catch up.

| Sail at minimum trim, maybe a little above minimum. Set works very well. Nice back-sde wave riding. Easy to get upwind, maybe a little too easy, but that is also very useful and fun: never worrying about getting back upwind. Jumping was nice. | ||

| Tried the WhiteWater with the 5.3 for the first time. Normally I love this fin. With the 5.3 it feels to small, of maybe it was me, but this time it did not feel as good: too slippery. It can be fun, but maybe water was too much chaos. | ||

| With the 21cm Freewave, and 5.3, the board sailed a lot better. Wind increased considerably (as predicted). Finished with sail on max trim. That was still doable. Control was well, even in the very tricky chaos chop. Wave riding was very good in the beginning, but later it was no longer possible because there were not really good waves anymore. | ||
