Very gusty afternoon on Kabbelaarsbank
Jurjen sent a message to say that the wind direction at the Blokkendam was not good and was going to the Kabbelaarsbank. So I followed.
This weekend is Dam-X so it was already busy and there were also slalom start training.
Jurjen had rigged 2 sets: 5.3 with waveboard and 6.7 with slalom board. He was using the 6.7, I was allowed to borrow the 5.3: saves rigging again.

Icon 5.3 on the One 95 with 26/11cm thrusters
I don't understand how Jurjen sails. He has the boom at max height of the sail and with relatively short harnesslines. With some adjustment, the sail was good for me.
Wind was very gusty. Less wind near the shore on the other side. In between it was pretty good. Wind increased so I was sometimes overpowered, time for the 4.7.

Banzai 4.7 on the One 95 with 26/11cm thrusters
The Banzai is just a bit softer than the Icon, but the center off pressure is also more stable, especially in the gusty wind. Making nice long rakes, sometimes a nice little wave to jump.
Just before I had to go home, the wind increased so much that I was even overpowered with the 4.7.

In hindsight, the wind direction would have been very good at the Blokkendam.
Wind was gusty, luckily the rain was not too bad, only a shower at the end.
After 16:00 the slalom training for Dam-X started, good to see that there were many young surfers with fin participating. It's bizarre to see how fast Ingmar Daldorf and Armado Vrieswijk go in these conditions.

Kabbelaarsbank

Present: Jurjen

13:15 1 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - Makani Kaku 26cm/MFC QS 2x8cm
Sail: Simmer Icon 5.3
I could borrow the Simmer Icon 5.3 from Jurjen, it was already rigged. After some trimming, the sail felt good: boom down, harness lines longer and a little shifting, a little less downhaul. Once powered, the Icon sails fine, slightly less soft than the Banzai. Between planing: less sail pressure and full power, the pressure point moves forward. Actually, just in the wrong direction.
14:30 1.75 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - Makani Kaku 26cm/Makani Walu 2x8cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Set trimmed quickly. Wind very gusty. But the Banzai range made up for a lot. The combination of 26/8cm thrusters worked very well on the flatter water of Kabbelaarsbank. Board runs nice and loose and fast and still got upwind really well.
