Sloshing waves with showers
I had to go home on time, so early (10 hours) in Zeeland. Winds would turn from south to west around 11 a.m. and increase.
Wind didn't seem really strong yet, but more than yesterday, so opted for the 4.7 because the wind would also increase.

Wind still too south, so wind still minimal. Sail all the way to minimum trim, with few pumps and I was often quick planing. Could go upwind pretty well by sailing over front foot. Cross wind went well with pressure on both feet. Water was only very flat, hardly any waves, so really boring with the UW. The few waves I could find tasted like more. Board turns nice and tight and easy. But with so little wind and waves: so dull, I'm going to grab the FSW 102.

Normally I don't take the FSW with 4.7, but in minimal conditions and with flatter water I have to be able to do it.
At first minimal, even hardly got planing, but once planing there where some waves for a back-side hit. Needed more input than the UW, but certainly went well. Until there was a heavy shower. Took schelter on the beach for a few minutes, then the wind turned and picked up very quickly, soon sail at maximum trim. Few nice waves to ride, but the 102 started to feel big with the 26cm fin. Nice time to test the UW properly.

Wind had turned to west maybe even WNW. Finally waves for the UW. I couldn't find good waves to ride. If I could find a nice steep wave, I couldn't get the UW to turned against it. Sailing wasn't comfortable. Even with sail on max trim sail sometimes felt too big. Time to grab the familiar FSW 84 to enjoy the conditions.

Smaller board didn't help. Sail over max trimmed, then the sail was controllable in the strongest gusts. But board seemed too fast, or the fins too big, but this is what I've usually been sailing. Water was just too rough, kind of wave from 2 sides with small wind chop on top. Difficult to find beautiful waves or a flat spot. Wind was also gusty, which didn't make it any better. So I don't think it was the Ultimate Wave, it was the circumstances.

Not the best conditions, wind turned too far to WNW which I think it wasn't really good conditions. Double feelings about the Ultimate Wave, in the beginning with easier conditions I was quite happy with it and I wanted waves to ride. When there was wind and waves, I couldn't find anything to ride. Hopefully soon better conditions to test the UW better.

10:15 1 hour Wind: S/SW
Board: JP Ultimate Wave 94 - MFC TF RTM 20cm/MFC TF 2x11cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Eightyfive Pro 400 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Wind minimal, sail minimum trim. Once in plane it sailed well, but had to sail over front foot to get upwind. Unfortunately flat water, so pretty boring. Only a few small waves could be found, on the waves you notice that the board turns easily. Maybe 21cm center fin would have been better.

I don't normally take the FSW 102 with the 4.7. But didn't want to rig another sail as the wind would increase. At first minimal, struggling to get planing. But once planing: fun, set worked very well. After a shower, the wind turned and quickly increased. More trim in the sail. More waves, time for a smaller board.

Wind very strong, 4.7 was quickly on max trim. There were more waves coming, but couldn't ride waves. Didn't feel right, no control. If I found a wave I couldn't let board turn on it. (Looking back: the water was just a big mess, even with the FSW 84 I couldn't sail on it.)

Rare, the FSW didn't sail well. Waves were coming in from 2 directions with low wind chop on top. And very gusty wind, the combination also made the FSW not sailing well.
