A day of trimming equipment
Forecast was: west wind 25 to 40 knots: Grevelingendam.
Unfortunately, the wind turned out to be just a bit southerly, so there was hardly any wind near the shore. When I arrived, the wind wasn't there yet. There were also a lot of showers, so I doubted I should turn around and go home.
If the wind would really come through, this would be a great opportunity to trim the Grip 93 well.

Banzai 4.7 on the Grip 93 with the original Fanatic 14.5/10cm quad
Started with the original fins, you have to start somewhere. Unfortunately, the wind was a bit minimal and it was difficult to get upwind. Back and forth fully trying to go upwind and then still end up at your starting point. Tried to ride waves a few times, then it feels right. Water was also very flat, not really the conditions for a quad.

Banzai 4.7 on the Grip 93 with MFC 16cm rears and Fanatic 10cm front quad
The 16cm MFC rears clearly better with so little wind. Could sail cross wind more easily. Unfortunately, the wind decreased even further and I was off the plane a lot. Time for bigger equipment?

Banzai 4.7 on the Goya One 95 MFC 25/8cm
Bobbing out of the bay, a gust and I was planing. The Goya One 95 is clearly easier to get planing than the Grip and with the 25cm getting upwind is also easy, even with minimal wind. Wind increased considerably with a rain shower. The 4.7 was soon trimmed to the max. Because of the large 25cm fin, I was soon standing more on the edge of the board, next to the foot straps, not nice in chop. Time for smaller fins.

Banzai 4.7 on the Goya One 95 MFC 21/8cm
Planing already in the bay, first wave outside the bay straight into the air. Perfect, control, still be able to get upwind. All the time looking for the nicest waves. Jumping, bit of back-side wave riding. Wind didn't seem to subside, 4.2 should also be possible. Good chance to grab the Grip again. Tried Thruster setup this time.

Banzai 4.7 on the Grip 93 with MFC 20/Fanatic 10cm thruster
What a difference, a lot of wind and the Grip ran very nice. The first waves already felt good. Jumped a few times. Getting upwind was possible, but was just a little more effort than I like. Let's see if the 21cm center fin solves that.

Banzai 4.7 on the Grip 93 with MFC 21/Fanatic 10cm thruster
Yes, perfect. Sailed very nicely. Just the little bit of extra grip and lift to easily sail cross wind. Wave riding easy, control good, jumping fun. Unfortunately, there were fewer waves than I like. So no longer a lot of waves to play with.

Luckily the rain wasn't too bad, wind wasn't super gusty. Unfortunately, the direction was just not right, so we really not possible to plane near the shore. It was nice on the water. Nice to test the Grip and find the right trim.

13:15 0.25 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Fanatic Grip TE 93 - Fanatic RTM Carbon 2x14.5cm/Fanatic RTM Carbon 2x10cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
First time on the Grip 93. Started with the original Fanatic fins. Fronts in the middle position, rears almost all the way in the back.
Wind minimal, the 4.7 on minimum trim. Only in the gusts I could get upwind with some effort. Did first jumps.
First impression, board really feels smaller than 93L. With more wind, the Fanatic fins can be an option. not now.

Board: Fanatic Grip TE 93 - MFC QS 2x160/Fanatic RTM Carbon 2x10cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Wind minimal and even slightly decreased. The QS 160 rear fins make a big difference, the set goes upwind easier. Unfortunately the wind is too minimal and sometimes even floating. Time for a bigger set.
13:45 0.75 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - MFC Freewave 25cm/MFC QS 2x8cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Wind minimal and water very flat, so I opted for the MFC 8cm thrusters and larger center fin than I would normally take.
Perfect in the beginning, sail was on the small side, but the Goya One planes easily, especially with the 25cm center fin.
Set felt very fast, ran nice and loose. Wind increased considerably, sail to max trim, 25cm became a bit big.
14:30 0.5 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Goya One 3 Pro 95 - MFC Freewave (06) 21cm/MFC QS 2x8cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
Wind strong, 4.7 bit large: max trim. Set worked very well. Didn't feel too big. Set ran fast. Jumps nicely. Smaller was certainly possible. Only if I put too much pressure on my back foot, when the wind was a little less, I could have a spinout.
15:00 0.25 hour Wind: W/SW
Board: Fanatic Grip TE 93 - MFC TF RTM 20cm/Fanatic RTM Carbon 2x10cm
Sail: Goya Banzai Pro 4.7 - Goya Ninety Pro 370 - AL360 E3 Carbon 160-220
First time with the Grip 93 with thruster setup. Was a bit of a guess which fin would work best. In the harder gusts good. On a wave awesome. In a dip, the 20cm seemed a bit on the small side. I felt like I had to sail too much over my front foot, not nice if you really have max power in your sail. So had catapult a few times.

Wanted less pressure on my front foot: Put the rear foot strap all the way in the front and the 21cm instead of 20cm center fin. Was clearly better. Felt wonderful. Wave riding fun, jumping good. Unfortunately, the wind decreased slightly and there were often hardly any waves left.
