Gusty but nice and warm
W/SW with 20 to 35 knots predicted: great!!
Unfortunately, upon arrival at the Dam, it turned out that the wind direction was too south, therefore gustier and less wind.
Banzai 5.3 on One 95 with MFC 25/8cm thrusters
Extremely low tide, so a lot of walking before it was deep enough to sail. As expected with this direction, few nice waves. Heading back to the beach, getting a bit more upwind there was sometimes a back-side hit possible. Further out there was clearly much more wind: Sail at max trim was often just doable outside, but closer to the shore good and really at the beach minimal. And then also gusty, so even outside it was sometimes minimal and difficult to get planing. Later the waves got a bit better, especially when the wind direction changed just a bit. Certainly closer to shore the waves turned around the dam so that it sometimes became almost side-shore and front-side riding was even possible with the One, even without really high waves.
Sailed on until I was completely empty, not the easiest conditions.
Wind was very gusty. All afternoon I hesitated to take the 4.7 or even 4.2. In the end I didn't do it and it was always just not necessary.
Many friends on the water.
It was nice and warm, my new O'neill 3/2 wetsuit was even too warm.

| Range of the Banzai was amazing. Wind was very gusty, the Banzai on max trim and in the hardest gusts just about doable. Almost never not planing. Wind SSW, low tide, so fairly flat water. The combination 25/8cm worked very well, board planed early, ran nice and loose and ran good height. | ||
