Beautiful summer afternoon and my Formula christening
The forecast for Wednesday was better, but on Wednesday I had appointments that I couldn't reschedule.
So just went this afternoon and evening. Was there after after 16:00. There was hardly any wind.
And according to the weather sites, there was real wind and the wind was going to increase. After talking to some people, I decided to set up my Formula set (11.0). Marius would go on the water with him, nice, I can see how it should be done with his big set.

After rigging and a first attempt at trimming the sail, quickly hit the water, bobbing out of the bay and also bobbing on the big water.
Would it really blow too little? But soon the first gusts came. Marius was the first to pump. I was going to try it too, we both fell silent. Next flurry, I start pumping, but fall silent Marius does get into Plane... More experience?
On the next flurry, I also manage to get into plane, so after Marius.
Hey he finally planing well on my own Formula, I had been waiting for that for half a year.
Towards Herkingen the wind seemed clearly stronger, there was always good to plan, while in front of the restaurant of the Grevelingendam there seemed to be no wind, so after 3 rakes more stayed near Herkingen. Some work on the trim, adjustment trapeze lines, foot straps and boom height. Set started to feel a little better, but didn't think I was really comfortable on the board yet, sail didn't really feel good either. In the vicinity of Herkingen, however, the gusts became louder and louder, so a rak back to the side. There I met Marius again who reported that he was going to the side. I wanted to continue and went to Herkingen (Dom!) Until halfway through nothing going on, still sailed quite reasonably. But the gusts became hard and the waves high. So I went higher to the wind, but even that didn't really help anymore, really no control at all.
Tacked on and made an attempt to get back to the shore. But because of the hard gusts and the lack of control, I could not sail wide to get back to the shore, all I could do was either walk high and go to the side at Herkingen or sail open, stand on the back of the board and some half wind towards the windmills. At the wind mills the wind was slightly less and the waves clearly lower, so here well sailed to lose height, tacked and then as spacious as goatee dared to the shore. That worked a long way until I had to hit hard again. Then had to walk some height again so as not to be blown away. After 2 more tacks I got to the shallows, got off for a while but quickly went to the side. Glad I had managed to keep everything going the way: EMPTY!
Not the best way to get to know your Formula stuff. It was really pretty scary at times.

After some food and recovering my 7.3 rigged. That was getting on and enjoying, control, light and quiet. First a few raks in the bay with a few very nice gybjes. Then went out on the big water, looking for Marius. After a few rakes I saw a Vapor sailing on the other side, after a rake I came across it, gyben and after it. Made many long rakes together, from the windmills to Herkingen and back again. Marius was often just a little faster, especially in spacious rakes. But the difference was small. At that distance, he was less than 20 meters out. After one stop mast foot 1cm backwards and then I was definitely just as fast if not faster myself. We did a few more rakes until the wind subsided so far that we only got to Plane with difficulty, took a good run to the side and stopped. That was just as tasty, fun and very educational. And how well that S07 does in different conditions, no spinouts.
F2 FX 100 with Warp 11.0
Marius went to rig, I just grabbed my 11.0. Wind was now clearly less and more stable.
It was a lot better now, although the foot straps were still too big and I still wasn't really relaxed. Could do with the board running better on its rail. How fast you can travel great distances with his Formula. Still had a lot of pressure on my back hand and a unwieldy feeling, next time put on my downhaul further.
Saw at home that the wind had picked up to 18 to 20 knots when I was still sailing with my Formula!! Way too much wind for an 11.0 and certainly for someone who has no experience with formula.
Hopefully another chance to train formula soon, because I still have a lot of practice to do.
