10 October 2026: Another day of gusty winds

Prediction was WNW, perfect for the Grevelingendam, unfortunately some showers. On the way there was a heavy shower and on arrival the wind was almost completely gone. Sailed the Banzai 6.0 on the F-Cross 113, first with the with MFC Freewave 32cm, later with the Patrik 32cm. And then suddenly, Frank was there. I hadn't seen him for 15 years, he hadn't changed. 09 October 2026: Very gusty afternoon on Kabbelaarsbank

Jurjen sent a message to say that the wind direction at the Blokkendam was not good and was going to the Kabbelaarsbank. So I followed. Started with Jurjens Icon 5.3 on my One 95 Later switched to my Banzai 4.7 on the One 95 Wind was gusty, luckily the rain was not too bad, only a shower at the end. W/SW with 20 to 35 knots predicted: great!! Unfortunately, upon arrival at the Dam, it turned out that the wind direction was too south, therefore gustier and less wind. Sailed with the Banzai 5.3 on One 95 with MFC 25/8cm thrusters. Closer to shore the waves sometimes almost side-shore and I was able to do some good front-side riding. Wind was very gusty. Forecast was decreasing wind. The wind should blow well enough until 12 to 2 o'clock. With the decreasing wind you can expect to get day with constant rigging. Sailed with the Banzai 5.3. 15 August 2026: Nice session at the end of a summer that is too hot

Today the last day of several heat waves predicted. With a chance of NNE wind starting 16:00. Finally the wind came after 18:00. Sailed the E-Type 6.6 on the F-Cross 113 with Edge 35cm and Patrik 32cm fins The 6.6 on minimum trim. Wonderful to have sailed again. The water was wonderfully warm, even in the shorty even warm. I got out of the car and there was a really warm wind: bizarre. Sailed with the Banzai 5.3 on the Goya One 95 with 22.5/11cm thrusters I had rigged with minimum trim. It didn't take long before sail was at maximum trim. Lots of back-side wave riding. Tried a few times front-side. Ended with almost minimum trim again. It was delicious. Finally surfing again. Jeroen went winging, so we went to the Botenhelling together. Sailed with the E-Type 6.6 on F-Cross 113 with Select Edge 35cm. Less wind near the shore, more further out, I was planing easily. Behind the island less wind. beyond the island it was better again. Making long runs all the time. Behind the island a bit of downwind to stay planing. Wind a bit minimal for planing gybes. Nice to have sailed again. The 6.6 was a good choice! [Read...]

Finally good wind again, NNE, but that can be very nice on Brouwersdam South. Sailed with the Banzai 5.3 on the Goya One 95 with different fins. Sailed longer than I expected. Wind was predicted SSW, never the best waves, but can be fun. Sun, no rain. Sailed with the Banzai 4.7 on the Goya One 95 with 20/10cm thrusters. Was a lot of fun for a while. 22 February 2026: Finally SW wind and warmer weather: season has started

After months too cold, no wind or Carnival. Today finally SW wind again and warm enough. Sailed the Banzai 4.7 on the One 95. Low tide, so relatively flat. Only a bit of jumping and a bit of back-side wave riding. Jibing on the outside was often a planning jibe. Timing was very good. After rigging it stayed dry and the wind was good all the time. Today WNW wind predicted, perfect for the Grevelingendam. Sailed with the Banzai 4.7 on the Goya One 95. Set was perfect for these conditions, nice and fast, good control and went upwind very well. Often planing jibes. Very occasionally a wave for a small jump. It was clearly colder than Friday. On Friday with the 4/3 mm it was fine, today with the 5/3mm wetsuit and still cold feet, at the end really hardly any feeling anymore. Stopped working early to catch the tail end of Benjamin. It was quite busy on at the dam: Autumn holidays. Sailed with the Banzai 4.2 on the Wave Slate. Unfortunately almost only swell and no steep waves, so not much for wave riding. Occasionally found something for a back-side hit. The few times the wave was good enough to try front-side not the best surf condition, so tired relatively quickly. It was nice to sail again. 4.2 was great. Bad weather predicted for Monday: heavy storm with heavy showers. In the morning it turned out to be dry and even blue skys. Wind expected up to 42 knots. So a chance for a nice day. Sailed with the Banzai 3.7 on the Custom Thruster 81 and K4 Scorcher 20/10cm. Pfff, wind was very strong, in the beginning really no control. Sailed until I was really empty and arms hurt. Wind was on the edge, it was just possible to sail in. Sometimes just too much, half the time fun sailing. It was clear blue sky almost all the time, not cold at all. Good wind forecast for the end of the afternoon. Concert-at-Sea started today, last part of the trip a big traffic jam: 20 minutes delay. Not a lot of surfers, but wind stronger than Sunday, so time for the 4.2. Sailed with the Banzai 4.2, first on de Grip 93, later the One 95. It was a great evening. After a few tropical days, the wind would be very good on Sunday evening. Sailed with the Banzai 4.7 on the One 95 with White Water 8.0 and MFC 11cm thrusters Get on the board and was planing. First wave, directly jumping. Back towards the beach wave riding. It was great. The weather and the water were warm. The wind was good, not too gusty. Forecast looked perfect for the Grevelingendam: WNW and 20 knots of wind with little rain. Sailed the Banazai 5.3 and 4.7 on the Goya One 95. There were a lot of nice waves. But unfortunately there was also quite a bit of seaweed. I had 3 catapults. Wind was great, stable and perfect direction for the Grevelingendam. Sun even came through every now and then, no rain. Only the 2nd session of the year, and that at the end of May: not the best spring. We have had no SW wind at all. Sailed the Banzai 4.2 on the Grip 93 with MFC 20/10 thruster fins. Very late start of the season. Unfortunately a long time no wind, or just too cold. Sailed the Banzai 6.0 on the F-Cross 113 with MFC 32cm. Great to finally be surfing again.
